Filled with the Spirit – Part 3: The Role of the Holy Spirit

Article by

(RuachHaKodesh, Session 15c)

This three-part session of the RuachHaKodesh series discusses what it means to be filled with the Spirit. In part 1 of this discussion, we unpacked the meaning of the phrase “baptism in the Holy Spirit.” Part 2 began to explore what the Holy Spirit does in us. In that episode, we suggested six primary categories of roles that the Holy Spirit performs in the life of a believer:

  1. Conviction of sin
  2. Regeneration
  3. Fellowship with God
  4. Holiness/sanctification
  5. Empowerment
  6. Life

This episode continues where we left off, exploring the last two of these categories. After that, we change gears slightly and look at some of the corporate roles the Holy Spirit fulfils in the Body of the Messiah. Here, we suggest four primary roles:

  1. Order
  2. Unity
  3. Truth
  4. Life

Finally, we end the session with the challenge to allow the Spirit to work more powerfully in each of us as individuals, as well as through all of us corporately. Being filled with the Spirit is not always a spectacular or emotional experience, although it certainly can be. It is essential that we maintain a posture of radical submission to Yeshua and His purposes for our lives. By giving ourselves entirely over to Him we can trust in His faithfulness to empower us to serve him.
