Luke-Acts session 6: The Sermon on the Plain

Article by

What does it mean to be a disciple of the Messiah? In his earthly ministry, both Yeshua’s teaching and his choice of disciples ran counter to conventional expectations. Not only did he call “uneducated” and underprivileged people as his disciples, his call to discipleship is also, in essence, a call to embrace suffering. This session of our Luke-Acts series focuses on Luke 6. Yeshua’s “Sermon on the Plain” contains some significant similarities and differences to the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew’s Gospel. This sermon encapsulates Yeshua’s call to repentance and true Torah observance. It also concludes with a somber warning about the coming destruction of the Temple.
